BUCKLAND.
WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE The monthly meeting of the Buckland Branch of the above League was held in the Public Hall on Thursday afternoon, October 31st. Mrs Jas. Wylie presided, ten members being present. It was reported that Privates Rogers, Potter and Hensen had each received a pair of socks and a knitted cap when home on final leave during the past month. A vote of sympathy was passed with Mrs Partridge, those present standing in silence. Mrs Davy was elected a VicoPresiient of the League. Miss Neal Laving resigned secretaryship Miss Davy was appointed to the vacancy. The Treasurer read a report of the Jumble Sale, the receipts of which had amounted'to £i»l 6s 3d' and the expenses to £3 los Bd, leaving a credit balance of £B7 10s 7d, out of which the following amounts had been spent on the Christmas parcels packed by the League for Buckland boys at the Front, viz : Pistes, tobacco, milk, handkerchiefs, sweets, postagas, £2l 1 7s 7Ad : cost of wool for the knitted articles, £7. The following subscriptions to the Wool Fund up to October 31st were acknowledged, viz : Mrs Jas. Wylie ss, Mrs Davv Is, Mrs Peters 2s. The following knitted articles were handed in by Mrs McKean : Socks : Mesdames iStnckett, 5 pairs, McKean 7 pa'rs, Attenburrow J pairs, Johnston 3 pairs, Shaw 2 p s .irs and King 1 pair, Misses Driver 3 pairs, G. Sweet, P Todd 1 p ir each. Caps : Mrs Groenway 3, Miss Joln.aton 7, Mrs Shaw 3. Scirves : Mrs Newton, Lois ?<haw ami Ella Ferguson 1 each.
