PAPAKURA.
Private Thomas Campbell, who died on October 13th of wounds received in action early in September last, was the eldest son of Mi T. D. Campbell, of Papakura, a member of the Papakura Town Board. The deceased soldier, who was 34 years of age, was born at Papakura and was educated at the Papakura public school. Shortly after leaving school he became a member of the staff of the New Zealand Railway Department and remained connected therewith until he enlisted. He departed with the 25th Reinforcements. In the early part of last month Private Campbell was severely wounded in the knee and leg with the result that he had to have his right leg amputated. From these injuries his death resulted. Deceased, who was of a quiet disposition, was widely knownthrough out the Papakura district and was esteemed by all with whom he came in contact. He took a keen interest in sport, particularly in shooting and football. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends is extended to the bereaved parents in their sad and irreparable loss.
