PAPATOETOE.
Mr W. Berry, of Kolmar road, has disposed of his 10 acre property toMrE. Clarke, of Brookby. The latter takes up his residence here next month.
Mr E. Lawrie, who shortly departs for camp, has disposed of his property on Cambria Park Estate. A proposal is on foot at Papatoetoe to establish an Orchestral Society on similar lines to that of the Bohemian Society in Auckland. For that purpose a number of Papatoetoe's residents intend holding a meeting to formulate plans to organise and put the proposal on a sound working basis. A public meeting will then be called, to be held in the Town Hall, when all residents will be invited to attend and asked to give support thereto. So far some 16 players have signified their intention of joining the Society. Up to the present hearty response has been received to applications for honorary membership and it is anticipated that the Society will have at least 100 honorary members to commence with. It is also expected that 30 playing members will be obtained. Operations have been commenced north of • Papatoetoe station in connection with the railway grade easement works and for the removal of the station to the new site.
