ALFRISTON-BROOKBY.
PAPAKURA ROAD BOARD The final meeting of the Papakura Road Board, prior to merging in the County, was held in the Board's office, Alfriston, on the 10th inst. Present: Messrs E. D. McLennan (chairman), D. A. Reid, J. Trimble, J. Briddoch, J. Enabling, and the Clerk (Mr H.Moody). ASSETS It was resolved that the Clerk in conjunction with the Manukau County Council's foreman should take an inventory of the Board's property, the valuation of the same together with the credit balance of over £2OO to be recorded in the minutes. BURNBY GRANGE The Board further agreed to recommend the Manukau County Council to take over the roads in the Burnby Grange estate under the roading con* ditions as entered in the Board's letter book.
OLD RECORD 3 Mr C. H. Lupton, an old Clerk of the Board, handed over several minute books dating back to 1862. VOTE OF SYMPATHY On the motion of the Chairman the Board passed a vote of sympathy and condolence with Mrs J. Muir, enr. and family in the loss of her son, Sergt. Alec Muir, in France, BOARD'B WORK APPRECIATED Mr H. E. hotter, of Brookby, wrote expressing on behalf of himself and other ratepayers appreciation of the services of Board members, past aud present, recognising the loss of time and labor spent by them in the exercise of their office. Tho Chairman expressed pleasure that at least in some quarters the Board's services were appreciated. BECOGXITION OF SERVICE The following motion was then carried unanimously, viz:—"That fit this, the last meeting of the Papakura Koad Board, we desire to put on record our appreciation of the Clerk 'a (Mr H. Moody) services while acting as Clerk and ask him to accept full payment for current quarter and a bonus of £lO for his special services in connection with loan matters and legal merging requirements." The Clerk briefly responded, thanking the Board for their consideration.
VALEDICTORY The Chairman, in bidding the members farewell, thanked them all tor their services, expressing his greatest pleasure in the fact that not only the present Board but previous ones over which it had been his privilege to preside had worked together in perfect harmony. He hoped that the new innovation would be successful.
