WAIAU—KARAKA ROADING LOAN
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—Now that the ratepayers in the special racing area of the Mauku Biding of Franklin County have endorsed the above loan by a handsome majority, I am voicing the opinion of most of the ratepayer* when I say that it is up to the Council to get a move on, and to let us have some of the metal on our roads this coming summer. We practically give our member and the Council a free hand as to where to start, but not as to when to commence. At least, we want a quick start and speedy progress, or some reason for a " Taihoa " policy. In the Waiau Pa portion of the district we are mostly agreeable that the County Engineer should know which is the best and most useful end of the road to start at. At the same time I think that we all recognise that the boat owners on the Manakau by their own short-sightedness have killed the water traffio and the sooner we get in touch with the Railway at Fatumahoe by metal the better.— I am, etc. J. W. McIARIN, Sen.
