Gunner H. J. Bullock was the eldest son of Mr H Bullock, of Buckland and late of Matamata, and the announcement of his death reached his father on Tuesday by private cable from his son's wife in England. The deceased soldier who was 28 years of age, was born and educated in New South Wales, Aus tralia. He was well known in the Matamata district where his father up to two years since resided for upwards of thirteen years. He was considered above the ordinary as a marksman, having distinguished himself on Feveral occa-ioi a. He also took a keen interest in boxing, gaining a considerable amount of success in the South Island. En listing in the Waikaro Mounted Bifles he departed with the M.iin Body in October 1914, and leaving the horses in Egypt he wen' to Oallipoli from whence after going through a great dpal of Gghtmg he was invalided to England. Later hwas sent back to Egypt, were he was drafted into the Artillery beirif subspquently sent to Fvhtc°. 1 1 was severely wounded in tne hem) i> August 1916 and af r er being in England for about *ix months he again returned to Frame arid re joined his old Buttery (thp 12 hj; with which he served until his death
