THE ROLL OF HONOUR

DIED OP WOUNDS

Br.AKE, George, August 24th—Wil liam Blake, Pukekohe.

Rifleman George Blake was the only son of Mr William Blake, of Pukekohe, and the announcement of his death only reached his father yesterday, no intimation having previously been received that he had been wounded. The deceased soldier, who was 24 years of age, was born and educated in Pukekohe and prior to his enlit-tment with the 11th Reinforcements he was working at his father's blacksmithing business. He was wounded at the Somme and after having been in hospital in England for nearly a year he returned to the front last October. It is pathetic to relate that Rifleman Blake writing to his father, in a letter received last week, stated that there was no need to worry about him as he hopefully looked forward to returning to Pukekohe in due course. Rifleman Blake was a fine type of Pukekohe's young men and was popular among all classes of the community.
