ONEWHERO.
The discovery was recently made that during the absence in Auckland of Mrs Gibson, whose husband was killed in the war, her dwelling house at Onewhero, which had been temporarily shut up, had been gradually and partially cleared of its contents. Police investigations Jed to the arrest last Baturday of a local labourer, named Samuel Thorn, in whose possession it is alleged some of the stolen property was discovered. Charged with breaking, entering and theft be was at the Pnkekohe Police Court on Monday remanded in custody to appear again on Monday next prior to being brought before the Magistrate next Thursday. Constable Taylor, in making the arrest, found that the accused's wife and six young children were undergoing privations due, it is stated, to neglect and they were sent to a home in Auckland to be cared for.
