NEW ZEALAND FARMERS' UNION.
FRANKLIN SUB.PROVTNCIAL DISTRICT,
The usual monthly meeting of the Executive of the Franklin Sub-Provin-cial District of the Fanners' Union was held in the Masonic Hall, Pukekohe, on Monday last. The following delegates were present, viz.: Messrs. H. 0. Mellsop (president), W. L. West, A. L. Hull, A. Bell, C. Hodgkinson, E. T. Frost, L. Morgan, E. Piggott, L. L. Allen. T. Logan, and John Schlaepfer, with Mr. S. Oldfield (organising secretary). Apologies were read from, and leave of absence granted to, Messrs. R. W. Johns (Mauku) and A. Jones (Waipipi). In answer to a circular letter sent by the Executive in regard to the proposed amalgamation of all dairy companies operating south of Auckland, the Waiuku, Tuakau, Waipipi, Onewhero, and Pukekohe East branches wrote that they were strongly in favour of the scheme, whereas Mauku and Gknbrook expressed themselves aagainst the same. A good deal of discussion followed. The majority of Undelegates present expressed themselves strongly in favour of the scheme, and, in compliance with a request from Hamilton. Messrs. H. 0. Mellsop, E Pk'irutl, and L. L. Allen were appointed delegates to attend a meeting t>. I"- hehl at Hamilton on Monday inxl to meet delegates from the oth. 1 four sub-provincial areas, so as to form a strong committee to go thoroughly into the best methods, etc.. ..I bringing 'about the much de-divd amalgamation.

A proposition was carried supporting the proposal to form a Mutual Fire Insurance Company, and a motion ua.- also passed supporting the Auckland Industrial Association in forming a Hydro-Electrical Power League. having for its object the development of hydro-electrical power ill the Auckland province.
The organising secretary reported that a number of successful meetings had been held with branches of tie Cuioii, with the object of getting them 1., affiliate with the sub-provincial district, and he added thai he felt sure that, several branches w»nld -Imrtlv fall into line.
Mr. Allen .-aid the Kxcctitive was to he complimented oil the fact thai several of their remits had been recently passed by the Dominion Conference. He hoped their deliberations would continue to bear fruit.
