Mr I MO' Connell capably carried out the duties of M.C and the music was supplied by Miss Holt (piano) and Mr Edwards (violin) There is a keen but healthy rivalry between Otahuhu and Westfield in connection with voting for the respective Carnival Queens and although the v>U« recorded up to noon on Wednesday last were in favour of Weatfield a strong feeling exists that in the final count Otahuhu will hold the premier position. The figures up to noon on Wednes day were We.»ifield 41,520 and Otahuhu 39,381, so that Westfield is leading by 4 .56 votes. Otahunu is straining every effort to be on the winning si'le and in this direction a final (, B : g Push" has been organised by Iho holding of a huge Paddy's Market at the Public Hall, Otahuhu. to-day and tomorrow (Saturday) Poultry, live stock and miscellaneous articles will be offered for sab' on both days, whilst various ■umpeiiti and side shows are among the many attractions. As the Hall will be open up to ten o'clock each night it is hoped that the public of Otahuhu will respond in such a way as to hold the coveted position of first place.
