PAPATOETOE

On behalf of the Papatoetco Red Cross Carnival Funds, a well attended dance was held in the Public Hall Papatoetoe on Wednesday evening last. Mr S. McCullough acted as M.C. and music was provided by Hawthorn's orchestra, the playing of which was favourably commented on. The floor was in an exellent condition and the function was a decided success. Supper was provided and was much appreciated. A euchre party and dance for the benefit of the Red Cross is to be held to-night (Tuesday) and other fixtures in aid of the appeal are a Rod Cross Tea for next Thursday afternoon in the Town Hall and a fancy dress ball for Friday of next week Several handsome prizes have been donated for guessing competitions, including a oection of land at Waiheke, a phonograph, a diamond ring and gold pencil,
