OTAHUHU
The Bev Father Murphy has been appointed Roman Catholic priest in charge of Otahuhu and commenced duty last Sunday. Father Murphy recently took a trip to England and back as Chaplain on board a hospital ship and previously was Administrator at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Auckland.
The Red Cross Tea arranged by the Otahuhu Ladies' Patriotic Committee in the Parish Hall, Otahuhu, on Saturday afternoon last proved in every wata success. The Mayor (Mr A. McDonald) presided. Vocal items were contributed by the Misses Madigan, McGee and Emily Moffat, and Mr Sousted. Mrs C. Fraser presided at the piano. The hall was prettily decorated for the occasion and the financial result was encouraging The trade done at the Rod Cross Shop since its opening has also been most satisfactory to date.
Forthcoming fixtures in support of the Red Cross Campaign are an Afternoon Tea, promoted by the Otahuhu Tennis Club, to be held in the Parish Hall next Saturday, and a Grand Concert to take place in the Public Hall on Thursday evening of next week, when the celebrated Lyric Four will be performers For riding a bicycle along Princes Street, Otahuhu, on 14th June last, between sunset and sunrise withou"; having a light, Robert Arthur Hudson.of Otahuhu,appeared before Mr J E. Wilson, S.M., at the Magistrates Court, Otahuhu, yesterday, and was con vi ted and fined 5s and costs 7s.
The Monthly Social of the Holy Trinity Church will take place on Wednesday next, when the proceeds are to be devoted to the Church Funds.
