Messrs J. Brodie and M. B. Glasgow, of the Tuakau Post Office staff, are under orders t>r transfer to Auckland Post Office, the former to the Learner's Telegraph School and the latter to the Savings Bank Department. Miss Fieida Dickens, of Tuakau, has been appointed local switchboard attendant The hours at the Tuakau Telephone exchange have been extended from 8 a.m to 8 p.m. This will prove a great convenience to many residents throughout the district The work of .road improvements at the white bridge, which presented many difficulties to the contractor, Mr Den nor, have now been overcome by the use of a California pump, the inflow of water being successfully coped with. Progress is now satisfactory.
