DISTRICT NEWS.
BUCKLAND. WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE The monthly meeting of the Buckland branch of the Women's Patriotic League was held in the hall on Thursday, May 30th. There was a fair attendance, Mrs H. H. D. Wily presiding The following knitted goods were handed in by Mrs McKean, viz : Socks : Mesdames McKean 9 pairs, Driver 8 pairs, Harper 8 pairs, Johnston 4 pairs, Partridge 3 pairs, Barber 2 pairs, Misses Johnston 3 pairs, McKean 2 pairs, Avery 1 pair. Caps: Misses Pipi Wily, Doris Avery, Owen Sweet, Polly Todd, Olive Uathcart, Myrtle Neal one each. Mittens : Mrs Partridge one pair. Mrs 0. 0. Avery handed in the following Bed Gross sewing : Mrs E. Bilkey 2 pairs pyjamas, Mrs James 2 pairs pyjamas, Mtsdames Davy, H. H. D. Wily, 0. 0. Avery, Partridge I pair each. The following subscriptions received for May for the Wool Fond were reported, viz. : Mr Johnston (Harrisville), 10s ; Mrs Hewitt, 7s ; Mrs Driver, Mrs D. R. Hamilton, Miss hagnall, Mr H. Potter 5s each; Mesdames Davy, Jackson, Heath, J. Barber, Neal, Carter, Melville, J. Wylie, Miss Johnston, Mr Bullock, 28 6d each ; Mesdames Sim, Peters, E. Bilkey 2s each ; Mrs Backhouse Is. Red Cross receipts were Mrs Driver .5s and " Jane " Performance £7 4s 9d.
