AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKET REPORT
Mr J. Jones, auctioneer, New City Market, reports under date of Saturday last as follows:—The market this week has been very good, a large volume of business has been put through. The poultry market was heavily supplied and better prices are ruling. All good killable birds are in streng demand. The potatoe market is much lower. Fruit firm We quote Poultr y: "Hens, good heavy, 3s to 3s 7d, good 2s 5d to 2s lOd, pullets according to breed and forwardness 3s to 6s 4d, ordinary pullets 2s 6d to 3s 3d, ducks '3B to sft Id,' roosters heavy 4s 6d to ■ss 6d, good 4s to 4s sd, small 2s to 3s, geese 5s 6d to 7e, turkey gobblers 9s to 12s, hens 4s to 6s. Pig market easier, 5s 6d to 12s 9d. Farm produce : Potatoes, southern, £8 to £lO local £5 to £6, swedes £3, kumeras £7 to £B, pumpkins £4 to £5, mellons £4. Fruit: Apples, cookers 5s to 7e 9d, dessert 5s to lis according to quality, lemons 8s to 14s 6d passion fruit 12s, Island Orp nges 9s 6d .to 138,,, Grain: Maize 7s 9d wheat .7.8 9d, oats 5s 9d, bran 8s lOd ripe meal I.os 3d, Algerian oats fis 6d phaff, southern, £ll to £l2 10s Dairy produce : Butter Is 2d, eggs 2s 5d to 2s 7d, cheese 10id to hams ls.l&d, sides Is Id to Is 2d, honey sections Is fid to fis 3d
