Celebration of the Jubilee.

(The First Minister) REV. T. NORRIE. as an ordained Minister of the Free Church of Scotland, arrived in New Zealand on October 17th, 1855, by the ship "Joseph Fletcher." For 50 years he laboured as the Minister of Papakura Charge. His parish stretched from Papatoetoe to Cambridge. He was instrumental in erecting no less than 21 Ecclesiastical buildings, at a cost of £SOOO. most of these being opened free of debt. Mr. Norrie was the pioneer builder of the Presbyterian Church. He passed away at the ripe old age of 79 on May 11th. 1005, and was buried in the Papakura Cemetry.

(Present D;iy Minister) The Rev. S. Nixon is the son of Mr VV. Nixon, ol Killinchy, Canterhury. He attended the Boys' High School, Christ church, from which he matriculated. He then went Home to Ireland nr.d graduated in Magee College. His theological course was taken out in the I nited Free College, Edinburgh, and Magee College, Londonderry. Mr Nixon became a licentiate oi the Irish Presbyterian Church and returned to New Zealand in 191)9. He was inducted into the I'ul.ekohe Charge on April 2">th. 1910.

The thanksgiving services <m Sunday wore conducted by the Hon J. f!. W . Aitken, M\L.C.. Moderator of the Preshvteri;in Church nt New Zealand, and there were,crowded congt'eg itiuns At the morning service he took for his text '* A Jubilee shall that s(lth year be unto you " (11111 verse of the 25th chapter Leviticus) and " 11 itlurto hath the Lord helped us'' (l:'th verse ot 7th chapter Ist Samuel) and his eloquent discourse was listened to throughout with rapt attent ion. Special sinning was rendered by the choir and a solo ''This is my task " was sung by Mrs Waddell. The Mayor and Councillors were present at this service. In the evening special hymns and t two anthems "Hark, hark my soul " (Shelley) and " S-nd out thy light" (Goimodi were sung by the choir. At the close the Hon. Aitken took occ :sion to thank the choir for their services which bad been most ciU'-iently given throughout the day. The offertories were devote-J t..war'ls lite n-iluction wl the debt on the Manse.
