AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKET REPORT
Mr J. Jones, Auctioneer, of the New City Market, reports : The tone of the market of most lines are steady, local potatoes are much easier. The shipping space from the South Island is getting better and therefore firms now will be able to replenish their low stocks. The grain market shows no change Poultry still como forward in heavy supply and quotations stand about the same as last report. For a line of choice white leghorn pullets we realised fis 9d to lO.s Id. Table birds are steady. Present values are likely to stand for a month or so. Pigs though low iu value are slightly firmer. Pumpkins and kumeras are in good demand. Fruit market very much firmer and we recommend consignments, We quote : Poultry—Hens : Choice, heavy, 2s Hd to 3s 5d ; good, 2s Id to 2s 8d ; small, Is fid to Is lOd Ducks, 2s 9d to 4s 3d ; drakes, 2s to 3s 7d. Geese, 5s to fis Cd. Roosters, prime, 4s to 4s 10d ; good, 3s fid to 3s 10J ; smaller, 2s to 3s. Turkey gobblers, 8s to lis ; hens, 4s to fis.
Pigs—Weaners, -'>s 9d to 10s; stores, £1 to £1 lfis. Fruit—Apples, dessert, Is fid to 8s 9J ; cookers, 4s to 7s ; pears, Is fid to lis Od ; passion fruit, .5s to Ns : lemons, 10s fid to lfis 9d. Potatoes—Local, £7 to £8 fis ; Southern, £9 to £lO fis Onions, lis. Kumeras, 7s to Ss Pumpkins, 4s fid to 6s fid. Swedes, £3 Grain—Maize, 8s- Wheat, 7s 9d. Bran, 8s fid. Sharps. 10s Barley, 7s 3d. Oats, Ha Bd. Algerian, fis 3d. Chaff, £lO to £l2 10s.
