Colville Cook, who until recently was Superintendent of the Otahuhu Technical School, will bp glad to learn that ho has b"on appointed, out of ">0 candidates, to the position of Director of the Boys' Instituto at Wellington He expects to take up his new duties at an early date. rCaptain Cook during his stay at Otahuhu has held the position of Secretary to the Otahuhu Masonic Lodge and has also been a prominent bowler- L ist year as a novice he won the first year championship and* this seas n in the competition for second year's championship he was similarly the victor. Ho has proved an active worker in many ways and his valuable services and genial spirit will be much missed from the district. Mr F. J. Layzell, of Devonpor!\ h s succreded Captatn Cook as Superintendent at the Technical Sc'io.d Captain C< lville Cook recently left Otahuhu for Pukekohe and now proceeds as tt ited to Wellington.

Anniversary s rvices in connection with St. Andrew's (Presbyterian' i Church will be h°M on next when special hymns will be sung by the choir and Mi Linsted will render a sjlo at the evening l service. Ou Friday last a pleasant function took place at Mr II J. Hall's establishment. Otihuhu, when Mr D. Clarkson was presen ed, on behalf of his follow workers, with a travelling rug as a memento of the pleasant relationship which always existed between them during the time he had been associated with the firm. Mr Clarkson after fourteen years' service is leaving t" join Mr W. Roulston's staff at l'ukekohe. Mr S. Shelton, in making the presentation, wished the lecipient every success and trusted ho aud his family would have good health and future happiness. General regret is experienced at the departure of Mi- Clarkson from Otahuhu he having been identified with several local organisations. At the last meeting of the Otahuhu School Committee a insolation was passed expressing regn-t that he was severing his connection as a mem) er of the Committer after a service of ten years. The resolution concluded, " He has always done his best for the advancement of all educational affairs and his gain to another town will be our loss." A resolution in similar terms of appreciation of his services was also by the Court " Star of the South " of the Ancient Order of Forresters, Otahuhu, of which body Mr Clarkson was a prominent member and filled the office < f Secretary with distinction.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Otahuhu Borough Council will be held on Thursday evening next A meeting of St. Andrew's Secid Ciub was held in tV Masonic Hall on Saturday la.-t when {here was a fair attendance of members.
