WAIKATO RIVER BOARD ' A meeting of the Waikato River Board was held on Saturday, the members present bong Means A. 6. C. Glass, Gallery, Cronin, and F. Henry, with the Clerk (Mr E. Hallett). * It was agreed to lease to the Firth Pumice Mills Company the Board's large punt at a rental of £1 per week, an allowance of £5 to be made to the Company for repairs to the punt. In regard to the forthcoming visit of the Minister of Lands it vu decided to ask the committee appointed at the recent conference of local bodies, who are arranging for the Minister's visit, to approve of the Minister being requested to procure a suction dredge for improving the navigation of Uie river, all neighbouring authorities to be rated towards the cost. Mr Henry gave notice that at the next meeting of the Board he would move that two sub-divisions should be created out of the existing Rangiriri sub-division. The Foreman of Works (Mr Sellars) reported that the dredge was working well in the Maungatatawhiriri creek.
In view of the ordinary biennial election of the Town Board being due to take place next September Mr George Morgon, although he ia no longer a resident in Meroer, proposes to retain his membership of the Board until his term of office expires. He has, however, resigned as Chairman of the Board ana Mr Gillibrand has been appointed as his successor in that position.
