TUAKAU

A MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE. The mysterious disappearance last Friday evening of a lady at Tuakau has been reported to the police. The lady, who is an ex-resident of Tuakau, has been residing of late with her husband at Remuera, and on Friday night she hireda conveyance at Tuakau, saying she wished to proceed to stop with some friends at Onewhero. On reaching • the vicinity of Tuakau bridge she elected to walk for the rest of the journey on foot but did not reach her supposed destination. Later in the evening a hat and umbarella, which have been identified as her property, were found by a passer-by on the bridge and it is feared that she may have jumped into the river. Dragging operations so far have have failed to meet with result.
