KING COUNTRY FIRE.

Relief Fop Sufferers. With a view of assisting to relieve those to whom the fires in the King Country have brought distress a Subscription List has been opened in Pukekohe, the Mayor (Mr H. G, R. Mason) being the Treasurer.

All donations received will be acknowledged in these columns and the same may be sent to the Mayor, to either of the local banks, to Messrs Frank Perkins and Co., to the Town Clerk, or to the office of this paper. Donations (Becond list) £ s d

MAUKU'S GOOD RESPONSE

At a meeting of the Mauku Branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union on March 25th it was resolved to make a thorough canvass of the district to raise funds for the King Country Fire Disaster ; five members agreed to canvass as follows : Patumahoe : Messrs F. Eavanagh senr., and E. C. Cuff; Mauku : Messrs Cut field and Bell; Waiau : Mr H. M. Crispe. So far a very fine response has been met, there being only one refusal in the whole district, and the sum of £7B 13s has already been secured. Mr C. Nott, of Patumahoe, kindly placed his motor car at the disposal of the Waiau canvasser which greatly assisted the campaign in that area.
