PAPAKURA.
The official opening of the additions to the Papakura Public School has been fixed for Wednesday, April 10th, when it is expected the chairman of. the Auckland Education Board will be present to mark the occasion. Harvest festival services in connection with the Papakura Methodist Church were held on Sunday last, the church being appropriately decorated. Mr Holdsworth (Auckland) was the preacher both at the worming and evening services and special hymns were rendered by the choir. Good congregations were present at both services. Capital entries have been secured for the annual athletic sports' gathering to be held on the Papakura railway reserve on Easter Monday. The Highland dancing which proved such a popular feature last year is again included in the programme and everything points to the sports being a big success in every way. A pretty but quiet wedding took place at the residence of the bride's parents, Papakura, on Tuesday last, the contracting parties being Miss Beulah Annie Johnson, second daughter of Mr E. C. Johnson, and Mr John Henry Cartwright, farmer, of Matakohe. The ceremony was performed by the Rev Jones (Methodist Minister) and the bridesmaids were Miss N. Christiansen and Miss L. G. Cartwright, while Mr George Johnson, brother of the bride, acted as best man. The bride, who is well-known throughout the district, was given away by her father and wore a sn.art fawn tussore travelling dre:,s with hat to match. There was quite a large gathering present after the ceremony to witness tbedepaiture of the happy couple, who left by motor car on their honeymoon. A few days prior to the wedding several friends enteitiintd Mr Cartwright at the Globe Hotel to dinner. Mr R M. Gillespie presided and the toast of the guest was duly honoured and responded to. In pursuance of the scheme tp carry ont improvements on tat Domain at Papakura, including th* provision of Tennis Courts, the Pahurehure Domain Board invite residents to take up debentures redeemable in two years. One hundred debentures of £l each are to be issued.
