MANGEBE BOAD BOARD

A meeting of the Mangere Boad Board was held in the Mangere Public Hall on Monday night last, present: Messrs Montgomerie, House, Gooseman and Maesey and the Clerk (Mr E Ashcroft). In the absence of Mr Eirkbride, Mr Montgomerie was voted to the chair. Owing to delay in getting the necessary signatures to the agreement re Pukaki road, the matter was held over for the time being. A letter was received from the Manukau County Council asking why permission had not been applied for to lay down the pipes on Mountain road in connection with tne water supply scheme. -It was decided to reply stating that the Board had no intention of laying the pipes without permission, which would have been sought in due course, when the Engineer had decided on the exact position of the pipes. It was resolved to make tire necessary application to the Council and also to the Domain Board to erect the reservoir on the Domain. The Board also agreed to take over the Domain Board's pipes, and fittings at valuation. The Engineer was empowered to proceed with the work of laying the pipes, etc., as soon as the necessary authority was received from Wellington. An interview with Mr S. T. Niccol, contractor for the Mangere bridge, was arranged for the purpose of considering several matters in connection with the bridge. Mr C. E. Goosman was appointed to represent Mangere on the Otahuhu Technical School Committee.

A deputation of carting contractors to the Board was received and their request that the prices fixed for distance carting should be made uniform with day work was acceded to.

It was decided to call fur tenders for the carting of scoria and metal on to Eosella, Mackenzie and Puketutu Island roads. Several matters in connection with the hall were discussed and sundry improvements were authorised. Accounts amoanting to £594 18s 3d, including £495 9s 6d interest and sinking fund on loans, «ere passed for payment.
