WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE
Pukekohe Branch
A meeting of the Executive of the Pukekohe Branch of tho Women's Patriotic League was held in the Borough Council rooms on February 11th. Present: Am 8 Webster (in tho chair), Mesdames Motion, Stuart,- Baxter, and Miss Usher. Letters of acknowledgement and thanks were read from Mrs Gu: son (Mayoress of Auckland) for box of literature and knitted goods received. Several letters of appreciation were also read from soldiers on active service for Dominion gift parcels received. Accounts amounting to £lO 15s 1 Ud were passed for payment. The following new members were duly elected, viv., Mesdames Armstrong, Gill, and W. Robinson (Patumahoe).
The President reported that the Dominion Gifts collected for January and February mouths totalled 322.
Mrs Stuart, convener of the Literature Committee, reported having packed and forwarded to head-
nuaitorH (he monthly box of books. Misa I'shor, tiouvenor of tho Sowing Committee, reported that one parcel of clothing for the French children was ready Co be despatched to Auckland. She was authorised to purchase what material her committee required for future use.
Miss Webster, convener of the Entertainment Committee, reported that the proceeds of the picture night beld on. December 12th for benefit Trench Comforts totalled £lO 5s 6d and the expenses, including hire of hall, amounted to £5 16s 6d, leaving a balance of £5 9a fid to be paid to the above named fund. She further reported on 'An Evening' held in the Masonic Hall to welcome home returned Boys, at which the door money showed £2 lis, and expenses 8s sd, leaving a balance £2 2s sd, the same having been banked for this Returned Soldiers Fund,
Mrs Baxter, convener of the Knitting Committee reported having packed and sent to Auckland for January and February two parcels of knitted goods containing 110 knitted garments. The following is the list of workers : —Caps : Mrs Crum 8, Mrs Keith 5, Mesdames Lindsay, and Luxford 4 each, Mis 3 Nora Graham 3, Mesdames Mcßae, W. T. Jones, Goldsworthy, and Miss Virgie Kimber 2 each, Misses Wilson, Barbar and Mrs Clarke 1 each.
Sox: Mrs F. L. Wright { Bombay) 8 pairs, Mesdames R. S. T. Moore and Lenehan "> pairs each, Mrs Meikle (Pollok), Miss Given Pollok 3 pairs each, Mrs Barter, Miss Galloway, A Friend 2 pairs each, Mesdames Kimber, Papesch, Mason, J. B. Brown, Grant, Mcßae, Perkins, J. B. Elliott, Miss Hay 1 pair each. Scarves : Mrs Clarke (Otaupo) 4, Miss Given Pollok .'3, Mesdames McRae and G. Brown 2 each, Mesdames Hart, Kenyon, Lindsay, Wilson, Baxter, Galloway, Perkins, Bartlett, Maxwell, and Miss Barbar 1 each. Mrs Cowrorwaite (Mt Eden) 14 pairs mittens.
Donations: Mrs Kimber 2 caps and 1 scarf, Mrs Maxwell 1 belt.
