ROAD WORKS IN FRANKLIN COUNTY
The County Engineer (Mr J. F. McArthur) submitted the following report at last Thursday's meeting of the Franklin County Council, viz : CENTRAL STATION ROADS, DRURY In company with the Chairman and Cr Thomas I made an inspection of these roads. After going into the matter thoroughly it was considered unnecessary at the present time to take any action regarding the legalisation of the road between Runciman and the station. The construction of the access roads from Drury were also taken into consideration. The cost of forming and metalling these roads would mean an expenditure of approximately £4OO. This being in* excess of the funds available for such work, it was decided to inform the RailWay Department accordingly. This has been done and an application has beefi made requesting that the necessary metal should be supplied to the Council free of cost and also that a corner of land should be acquired by the Department to give a better turn from the proposed overhead bridge at Drury to the new station.
