Westfield fat stock market we penned fat cattle to the number of 307 head, comprising 185 steers, 116 cows and heifers and bulls. The quality of the ox beef was superior to recent markets. There was a very firm demand, and last week's values were easily sustained. Choice ox sold to £2 12s per lOOlbs, prime ox £2 8s 6d to £2 lis, rough and plain beef £2 to £2 ss, cow and heifer beef £2 to £2 Bs. Steers ranged in price from £l3 5s to £24 15a. The latter price for a steer from Mr F. 0. Parker, Waiuku Cows and heifers £8 10s to £2O 2s 6d. The highest averages for steers included : 10 from Mr H. E. Reid, Waerenga, £22 Is 9d ; 14 from Mrs E. M Reid, Maiora, Waiuku, £lB 17a lOd ; 8 from Mr R T Reid, £l7 18s 9d; 12 from Mr F. G. Parker, Waiuku, £ls 16s 3d. Six cows from Messrs Stonex Bros., Papatoetoe, averaged £l3 Is Bd. Fat and young calves were penned in average numbers and sold freely at late rates. Runners made from £5 to £7 12s 6d, heavy vealers £4 to £4 17s 6d, medium £2 17s 6dto £3 18s, light £1 15s to £2 15s, small and fresh dropped 3s to £1 12s. (95 sold). Pigs of all classes came forward in full numbers and sold under keen competition at late high rates Choppers made from £5 los to £8 15s, medium £4 to £5 12s fid ; large porkers £3 5s to £3 18s, medium £2 10s to £3 3s, small £1 15s to £2 8s ; slips 17s 6d to £l 10s ; weaners, 14s to 16s. (360 sold). The sheep pens were well filled with a nice class of mutton. There was a steady demand throughout, with values unchanged. Extra prime heavy wethers £1 l»6* 6d to £1 19s, heavy prime £1 14s to £l 16s, lighter prime £1 1 Is 6d to £1 13s 6d, light fat wethers £1 Bs6d to£l lis, unfinished £l 6s to £1 9s 9d ; extra heavy prime ewes £ 1 12s to £1 16s 6d, good prime £1 9s to £1 Us 6d, lighter fat ewes £1 5s to £l «s 6d, others 10s 6d to 17s 6d. (1447 sold). Lambs were penned in large numbers. A large proportion were unfinished and these were dull of sale. Prime lambs sold freely at last week's rates. Extra heavy prime £1 9s 6d to£l 12s (31 from Mr Geo. Niccol, Papatoetoe, averaged £l lis 6d) ; good prime £l 3s 6d to £l 6s, lighter £1 Is to £l 3s, light and unfinished 15s to £1 ; stores, 10s to 14s. (507 sold).
