STOCK SALE REPORTS.
Messrs Alfred Buckland & Sons Ltd, report as follows: At Pukekohe on Tuesday we held our usual monthly sale, and had an extra large yarding, young cattle predominating. There was a large attendance, and values were much the same as* those ruling at recent sales. Dairy cows and heifers made from £8 to £ls 15s, according to quality; empty cows £7 10s to £9 15s, 18-month to two-year-old steers £8 5s to £lO 3s; no grown steers penned; yearling to 18 months steers £6 to £8 Is; heifers same age £5 to £7 ; best steer calves £3 15s to £4 8s ; good calves, mixed sexes, £2 15s to £3 108; smaller calves, £2 5s to £2 13s; small and weedy, 12s to £1 15s; bulls, £6 to £l7, according to age, weight and quality; fat steers, £ls to £ls 15s; cows and heifers, £9 10a to £l3 17s Gd. On Wednesday at our weekly Westfield fat 9tock market our supply of beef numbered 308 head, comprising 168 steers, 137 cows and heiftrs, and 3 bulls. There continued to be a strong demand, and values were firm at last week's rates. Choice oxen sold to £2 12s per 1001b ; prime oxen, £2 Bsto £2 lis; rough and plain beef, £2 to £2 4s ; cow and heifer beef, £2 to £2 7s. Steers ranged in price from £ll 17s 6d to £23; cows and heifers, £7 10s to £l9 ss. The highest averages for steers were: Four from Messrs A. andW. McDonald, Otaua, £l7 17s 6d ; 18 from Mr Chas McLeish, Hunua, £l7 Is 8d; 10 from Mr J. K. Bryant, Karaka, £l7 17s; 13 from Mr Langford, Bunciman, £l6 10s 2d. Fat and young calves were penned in average numbers, and sold at fully late values. Bunners made from £5 to £7 17s 6d, heavy vealers £3 15s to £4 17s 6d, medium £2 15s to £3 128, light £1 10s to £2 12s, small and fresh-dropped 4s to £1 7s 6d. (68 sold.) There was a keen demand for the 294 pigs, and late high pricSs ruled, baconers being exceptionally firm. Choppers and heavy baconera made from £5 15s to £7 15s, others £4 to £5 10s; large porkers £3 8s to £3 18s, medium £2 10s to £3 ss, small £1 15s to £2 Bs, slips £1 to £1 10s, weaners 8s to lis 6d. There was a heavy yarding of sheep and a steady demand for all classes. A few pens of extra welldone sheep sold at improved prices, but generally there was little or no alteration from last report. Extra prime heavy wethers £l 17s to £1 19s 9d, heavy prime wethers £1 14s 6d to £1 16s 6d. Lighter prime wethers £1 12s to £1 14s, light fat wethers £1 8s to £1 lis, large framed unfinished wethers £1 9s to £1 lis, Bmaller unfinished wethers £l 5s to £1 Bs, best heavy prime ewes £1 10s to £1 13s 3d, good ewes £1 6a6dto£l 9s, other ewes 17s 6d to £1 ss. (1757 sold.) Lambs came forward in moderate numbers. All fat lambs sold freely at advanced figures; other sorts unchanged. Extra heavy, prime, £1 10s to £ I 14s 3d, good prime £1 3s 6d to £1 ss*6d, lighter £1 Is to £1 3s, light and unfinished 13s to 18s Od. (373 sold.)
