The appointment of Mr A. McVeagh as Ranger has already had a marked effect in the township and has created an absence of horse and cattle straying. A meeting of the Papakura School Committee was held last Monday evening. Favoured with ideal weather the members of the Methodist Church choir held their annual picnic at Weymouth on Monday last. Refreshments were provided and various games were indulged in, everyone thoroughly enjoying the.outing. Marked progress is being made with the excavation for the new cattle yards which are being constructed for the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited There has been a good response to the appeal for subscriptions towards a presentation which it is proposed to make to Constable and Mrs T. Kelly, who recently left Papakura. It is gratifying to learn that there are so many in the town and district who desire to show their esteem of Constable and Mrs Kelly in a practical manner.
