THE MANURE PROBLEM
Bohedust -and Alternatives Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co's Offerings With the rising price of bonedust and i*s prospective scarcity—and possible disappearance from the market—all farmers are faced with the problem of how best to treat their land. Fortunately alternatives are available which can be relied upon to give very excellent results. As a matter of fact Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd, owing to their heavy holdings and heavy purchases ahead are still able to supply bonedust ex store and to book orders for delivery ex ship to arrive. Growers who have an eye to next season's requirements would do well to look ahead,
For top-dressing purposes the firm is able to confidently recommend its special "Challenge Brand" mixture, the composition and guaranteed analysis of which make it absolutely the best value on the market at present. Very heavy bookings have already been made for forward delivery but supplies can be guaranteed for some months ahead. This mixture has given the best results wherever tried and as the proportions and solubility of the chemical content have been specially designed to suit Auckland conditions an assurance of continued success can be given. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co. have built up their success throughout New Zealand by handling only manures of the very highest quality and in establishing themselves in the North Island, no falling away from that standard will be allowed.
A cheaper mixture, but one which can still be recommended, is that of guano and super. Some farmers who have tried guano alone in the past have been disappointed with results. This all depends upon the quality of the guano used and the form in which it is applied. Some guanos have a high chemical content while others are of a low grade quality. The Makatea Island guano, for instance, has the high analysis of 83-8-1 o o tricalcic phosphate while other guanos drop as low as 60-63 o o and even down to 38 o. o. With ten ewt of pure Makatea Island guano mixed with an equal quantity of super a mixture is secured which has the merit of giving the highest possible analysis of phosphoric content and in which the plant food is rendered speedily available to the grass. In buying guano and guano mixtures the important thing to do is to be sure of the quality and analysis. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co. are always prepared to give the guaranteed analysis and explain the special merits of their manures and so establish the most perfect confidence of straight dealing between themselves and their customers.
Enquiries for price lists and information concerning manures of all sorts—the firm is able to supply all kinds of manures that are available —addressed to Mr A J. Heighway, the Pukekohe representative (corner of Hall and Harris streets) telephone -33 or Box 27, will be given the promptest attention.—Advt.
