PRICE OF NEWSPAPERS.

INCREASE DECIDED ON At a meeting held in Auckland yesterday of the newspaper proprietors of the Provincial District of Auckland, at which most of the city and country papers were represented, it was unanimously resolved in view of the marked rise in the cost of paper (such being 300 per cent above pre-war rates) to increase the price of newspapers per copy to regular subscribers or 2d per copy to casual readers. This increase In price has been in operation in other parts of the North Island since the early part of last year. The above arrangement will come into force as from Monday, February 11th. Subscriptions for the current quarter to '' the Times" will, however, if paid before February 1 lth be accepted at current rates, viz,., 2/6 delivered or 3/6 posted.
