PAPATOETOE.

MR AND MRS CLOW FARE-' WELLED. A farewell social gathering was held in St. John's Hall on Friday, December 28th, when the congregation and friends tendered a farewell to Mr and Mrs Clow, who are shortly leaving the district. The Rev. C. Porter occupied the chair and referred to the past work of Mr and Mrs Clow both in the Church and Sunday School, with which they had been connected for many years. Mr Clow, he said, had been a member-of St. John's since boyhood and had done yeoman service for the Church, being ably assisted by The congregation was losing the services of a couple whom they could ill afford to spare and he wished them God Speed and hoped they would have every success in their new sphere. Mr Isaac Gray, on behalf of the residents of Fapatoetoe, also spoke and felt sure that Mr and Mrs Clow would take away with "them the good wishes of the people of Papatoetoe.

Mr J. A. Bradstreet, a member of the Kirk Session, referred to the many good qualities of Mr Clow in his work in the Church and mentioned that he was one of the original founders of the Bowling Club.

During the evening vocal solos were contributed by Mrs McCullough and Messrs Jeans, and Dilworth; recitations by Mr J. Harvey and pianoforte solos by Mrs Leonard. Supper was handed round, after which the Rev. Porter presented Mrs XJlow with a solid silver hot water Wtle and Mr Clow with a set of silver hair brushes. Mr Clow in reply thanked those present on behalf of himself and his wife for the gift and hoped they would find their friends as genuine in their new home as had been the case in Papatoetoe. He hoped, he said, some day to come back and settle in Papatoetoe.

PAPATOETOE BOWLING CLUB The final game Daisley v. Tidmarsh, of the club championship singles was played on Tuesday afternoon. At the 11th headTidmarsh led by 14—8 and Daisley then scored 3. On the 20th head honours were even, 18—18. On the 21st head Daisley lay 3 withTidmarsh only one bowl to go but the latter drew the shot, winning by one point after an exciting game.
