STOCK SALE REPORTS.
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report as follows : At Papakura on Monday and at Pukekohe on Tuesday we had, for the time of the year, large yardings. Beef was penned in large numbers, competition being extra keen, freezirg buytrs operating. Fat steers sold to £l7 5s ; fat cows and heifers, £9 to £l4 15s. Store cattle showed no improvement, selling at late rates. Thiee to 4-year steers, £l2 2s 6d to £l4 ss; 2 to 3-year steers, £8 15s to £ll 17s 6d; yearling to 18 month steers, £6 to £8 7s 6d; weaner steers, £2 15s to £3 12s fid ; ditto, heifers, £1 10s to £3; inferior calves, 15s to £1 8s; yearling to 18month heifers, £3 15s to £5 17s 6d ; heifers suitable dairy purposes, £0 to £7 108; empty cows and heifers, £6 5s to £8 10s. Bulls, in large numbers, sold well at from £8 to £ls 10s, according to weight and quality.
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report: On Wednesday at our weekly Westfield fat stock market our entry of beef numbered 326 head, comprising 166 steers, 149 cows and heifers, and 11 bulls. There was an improved demand with a Srm advance in values. Choice ox sold to £2 12s, prime ox £2 8s to £2 Us, rough and plain beef £2 to £2 4s, cows and heifers £2 to £2 7s per 1001b. Steers ranged in price from £ll to £22 17s 6d. Cows and heifers £8 10s to £l6. The highest averages for steers included three from Mr J. Muir, sen, Mangere, £l9 15s; eight from Mr ft. T. Eeid, Waiuku, £l6 2s 6d; 12 from Mr A. S. Carpenter, Karaka. £l6 3s lOd; 10 from Mr Hugh Wallace, Mangere, £ls 4s 8d; five cows from same vendor, £l3 9s lOd. Sheep were penned in less than average numbers and in consequence prices were firmer, more especially for prime mutton. Extra heavy prime wethers made from £1 18s to £2 Is, heavy prime £1 15s 6d to £1 17s 6d, medium to heavy £1 12s to £1 15s, light and unfinished £1 7s v to £1 11; best heavy prime ewes £ l 10s to £1 13s 9d, good £1 5s to £1 9s, others £1 Is to £1 4s. 803 sold. The 429 lambs which came forward were required, all killable lambs being worth 2s to 3s more a head than last week. Unfinished were neglected. Heavy prime local lambs £1 6s 6d to £1 9s 3d, good prime £1 3s fid to £ 1 5s 6d, lighter 19s to £1 2s 6d, light and unfinished lis to 16s 6d. Fat and young calves were again penned in full numbers and were easier in price. Runoers made from £5 7s 6d to £9 los for an 18 month steer; heavy vealers £4 to £5 ss, medium £2 10s to £3 15s, light £1 10s to £2 7s 6d, small and fre9h-dropped 3s to £1 Bs. 82 sold. We had a full yarding of pigs, including a considerable number of stores. Fat pigs of all classes rose considerably in values, but stores were no better. and heavy bacone'rs made from £5 to £7 17s 6d, light ! baconers £4 28 6d to £4 17s 6d, large porkers £3 5s to £4, medium £2 15s to £3 3s, light £1 15s to £2 12s, slips £1 to £1 10s, weaners 10s to 19s. 279 sold.
