PAPAKURA.
Intimation re penalties to be added and prosecutions to be inflicted in the cases of unpaid rates due to the Papakura Town Board appears in an advt in this issue. The many friends of Mr H. Shove will regret to hear that he is still suffering from the effects of a recent accident. It appears that whilst riding his horse on his way to Otahuhu on the Thursday following Christmas he was thrown to the ground at Wiri, the animal rolling on to him. When discovered he was found to be severely bruised and shaken. Dr Brookfield was communicated with and he was conveyed to his home by motor. The Town Board meet on Monday evening next when, it is said, a programme of various schemes for improving the township will be submitted by the Chairman. If these are adopted Papakura will indeed be starting on an era of progress.
