The matter was referred to the Works Committee. BOUNDARY FINANCIAL AJUSTMENTS. In regard to the loan adjustments consequent on the recent alteration of Borough aJhd County boundaries, in settlement of which the Borough Council claimed the sum of £ll6O and had refused the County Council's offer of payment of £IOSO, a letter was read from the County Clerk (sir Alan P. Day) stating that in view of the small amount, viz, £llO in dispute, the County would accept the liability of £ll6O as apportioned. The County Clerk, however, pointed out that in addition to the question of relative increases of valuations in the two districts during the currency of the loans there was also the questi iu of where the loan moneys were spent and the relative benefits being derived from such expenditure by the two areas. The area now excluded from the Borough did not derive benefit from the work done by the loans to the same extent as the Borough did and the roads within the area excluded and now in the Cjuaty required a good deal spent upon them to put them into order. *»
