Military Service Appeal
| To the Editor] Bir-In reference to n»y appeal before the Auckland Military Board on the 10th inst, the report of which | in an Auckland paper is liable to i convey a wrong impress ion, I desire to say that on both occasions the ' pleas for exemption were tbat I was j engaged in an essential occupation | and that to deprive my father (who ,w 74 years of age) of my services as working manager would be a hard- | ship. I was represented on both occasions by Messrs Russell, Campbell and McVeagh and it was explained to the Beard that although I -was only milking seven cows there was the usual daily work of a dairy and general farm to be done. The evidence given by me was essentially the same at each hearing. More crops have been grown on my father's farm during the last 20 years than have been grown on the majority of farms in this district. Yours etc., | GEORGE R. WEIGHT. I Patumahoe, December 12th, 1917.
