Three Tufokau youths were called upon at the Pukek»he Magistrate's Court yesterday to answer a charge that being under tbe age of 21 years they obtained intoxicating liquor. It appeared that after receiving a warning: from Constable Taylor, of Tuakau, and finding they could not obtain "drinks" in Tuakau they went on a recent dale to Pukekohe and on being asked at the hotel there as to their age said they were over 21. Constable Taylor had, however, followed tham up and hence the charge. A fine of £2 and costs 7s was inflicted *on two of the youths, the third, who had been influenced by the others, being fined 10s. A native, named. Tahitahi Thompson, carried out a. Dick Turpin ride on October 20th last near Tuakau and in the course of his journey he collided with a cow, which, he seriously injured. Charged at the Pukekohe Magistrate's Court yesterday with furiously riding his horse he had to pay a penalty of £2 10s and 7s costs. A couple of fuxthor charges against Maoris for obtaining liquor at Tuakau for consumption off licensed premises were heard at the Pukekohe Magistrate's Court yesterday. In one of the cases Fisher Taylor pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined £5 and 7 s costs, but the other native, named Euoka, was discharged, the witness for the police, who had been previously convicted for supplying the liquor, denying that the individual in the dock was the persjn for whom he purchased the drink, although the latter was also called Enoka. .
