TUAKAU TOWN BOARD
Monthly Meeting At the usual monthly meeting of the Tuakau Town Board held on Tuesday last there were present Messrs Dynes Fulton (chairman), J. H. Craig, J Pirret, W. Barnaby, and W. J. Deeble, with the clerk (Mr A. H. Tapper). LIVERPOOL STREET IMPROVEMENT The District Kailway Engineer (Mr D. W. Mcintosh) in a letter to the Board intimated that the Department was willing to allow the Board to fill in and round off the corner of the Kailway Reserve in Liverpool street. He added that the Department would not give up the freehold of the railway land but would submit a letter of occupation for signature by the Board. The occupancy would be terminable at any time the Department might require the land. On the motion of Mr Craig it was resolved to accept the Department's offer.
TUAKAU HOTEL DRAINAGE With reference to the drainage of the hotel Messrs Nicholson and Gribbon, representing the owners, wrote that the licensee was liable to keep the drainage in order to the satisfaction of the Board and they had communicated with him accordingly. The Chairman suggested that aa all communicaiions had been with the owner (Mr Foley) the Board should not recognise the licensee in. the matter. He mentioned that in a recent interview with Mr Foley the question of providing a septic tank was discussed. Since such interAiew Mi Foley had seen the Board's Engineer and it was arranged that if an estimate and plan of a septic tank were submitted to him he would consider the same. Action was deferred. 1
BUILDING PERMIT A plan for a new cottage on the Henderson Estate having been submitted by Mr W. Woodbridge and approved the Engineer, it was resolved to grant a building permit for the erection of the cottage. BRIDGE OVER CREEK Application having been recently made by Mr H. Oldham for the erection of a small bridge over the creek near his property a plan was submitted by the Board's Engineer (Mr J. Routly) who stated that the cost of such work would be about £25. As the opinion was expressed that the bridge would only benefit a few ratepayers it was resolved to enquire what sum Mr Oldham would be prepared to contribute towards the cost of the bridge.
WEIGHBRIDGE The Chairman reported that he he had had an interview with Mr David Madill relative to the proposed removal of the weighbridge standing near the hotel in George street ahd after informal discussion it was resolved to ask Mi Madill to remove the weighbridge t*.' a site approved by the Board.
THE STREET LOAN The Chairman reported that he had interviewed the Prime Minister with reference to the desire of the Board to obtain a further instalment of £3OOO from the Public Trust Office and Mr Massey had promised to help them to obtain the money. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Public Trust Office asking for a further instalment. POUND SITE The question of the site and erection of a Pound for the township was again considered and on the motion of the Chairman a sub-com-mittee was appointed to select a site and to arrange for the erection of a Pound. The Chairman, Messrs Craig, W. Barnaby, J. Pirret, and W. J. Deeble were appointed as the Committee with power to act. DOGS Mr W. J. Cole's tender for dog collars at 12s a dozen was accepted. The license fee for all dogs was fixed at 2s 6d each dog. MEETINGS It was decided to hold the next meeting on Friday the 28th December, and the usual monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 15th. ACCOUNTS Accounts amounting to £132 2s lid were passed for payment. RED CROSS CONCERT
