FLOWER SHOW AT PUKEKOHE.
Under the auspices of the Vestry of St. Andrew's (Anglican) Church a flower show and industrial exhibition was opened yesterday in the Premier Hall, Pukekohe, and will be brought to a conclusion to-night. Although owing to the recent dry season the floral portion of the show was not so extensive as last year, several entries not coming forward, quality was well sustained. In all sections there were excellent exhibits, the roses and sweet peas being particularly brilliant, while the homs products and needlework deserve every commendation. Schoolwork, too, was well represented, the laundry work (Technical School girls only) being a credit to school and district. Drawings from memory as executed by the Technical School boys were also greatly admired and received warm praise from the judge.
I Guessing competitions met with ready patronage and various stalls did good business, those in charge of the latter being : Plain and fancy goods: Mrs Dell, Misses Hamlin and Fausett; Tea Room : Mesdames Hart, J. Russell, Moore and Miss Dell; Lollies and Ice Cream: Members of the Choir; Mystery Stall : Mesdames Barter and Stuart, Misses N. Wake, Fear and Shipherd. Stage entertainments were ably controlled by the Misses Millicent Taylor and I. Duncan.
The judges were as follows: Roses, sweet peas and cut flowers : Messrs A. McDonald (Qtahuhu) aid E Allan (Buckland). Vegetables: Mr E. Allan. Floral artistry and home l products : Mrs J. Logan (Onewhero). Writing and maps : Mr W M Bar* ton (Mauku). Art and plain needleworK: Mrs Cruickshank and Miss j Niccol (Tuakau); technical school drawings : Mr Lenehan. With Mr A. B.
