Pte Walter Victor Pulman, whose i death, as the result of wounds recced in action in Palestine was re- ! cently was the son of Mr j and Mrs Walter Pulman, of Buckj land, and was educated at the HamilI ton public school and afterwards at i the Waitangi and Aka Aka schools. i After leaving school he was em- ' ployed as reader on the Auckland | " Herald " staff where he was highly ; esteemed. Leaving the city he en- ' gaged in farming up to the time of ' his enlistment and left with the late Capt. A. E. Wilkinson in the sth I Reinforcements. Going to Egypt 1 he spent most of his service there. ; Private George Adams, who this week is reported as having been killed in action on November 18th, was the son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Adams, of Pukekohe. He was 24 years of age and was educated at the Pukekohe Public School. On the conclusion of his school-days he entered the butchery trade, subsequently becoming a partner with his father in the business then carried on in Pukekohe under the style of " Adams and Sons." Enlisting at Pukekohe in the Rifle Brigade (" Lord Liverpool's Own ") he spent a short time in Egypt and afterwards proceeded to France where he was slightly wounded. Returning to the trenches he saw a good deal of service before he made the supreme sacrifice. Deceased was highly respected and wellknown throughout the town and district. He will be remembered as a prominent member of the Pukekohe Fire Brigade and al«o of the HarriereClub. Another brother, Joseph, who left New Zealand with the 11th Reinforcements, is serving in France.
