FRANKLIN A. & P. SOCIETY

Under the presidency of Mr Dynes Fulton a meeting of the executive of the above Society was held on Wednesday last RAILWAY SECTION, The Town Olerk of the Pokekohe Borough Council wrote drawing attention to the state of the hedge on the railway section belonging to the Society and asked that the same should be trimmed.—The Secretary was empowered to engage a man to have the work attended to. With regard to the Society being released from the lease of the section the President reported that Mr Barter and he bad waited upon the District Engineer (Mr Mcintosh) and had since received a letter stating that the Department could not accede to the request. He had also interviewed the Premier on the subject and Mr Massey would advise him later as to the result SCHEDULES AND CATALOGUES. The President reported that satis factory arrangements had been made with the "Times" office for the printing of the Schedule and Catalogue and advertising in connection with the same—On the motion of Or Barter the action of the chairman was confirmed. .NEW MEMBERS. Four new members were proposed and elected and Mr A. P. Daysh suggested that a prize should be given to the member who introduced the largest number of new members. Although this suggestion was regarded as a good one to stimulate a deeper interest in the Society no definite action was taken. The Society, however, appeals to the public for a larger support and new members on this progressive Society are invited. YATES' BUSH ROAD. Mr Gummer, speaking on behalf of many people who wish to use the road giving access to the" Showground, asked that some representation should be made to the Borough Council and the County Council with a view to the road being improved for traffic. On his motion it was resolved that a deputation should wait upon the respective Councils at an early date to secure if possible the provision of a better road.
