N.Z.D.A. v. Shareholders
[To the Editor | Sir—The decision of the N.Z.D.A. not to pay interest on share capital is inexplicable to any well-balanced and unprejudiced mind Truth is stranger than fiction, and the fact remains that the N.Z D.A. has decided to pay out to their suppliers in the form of an increased price for their butterfat moneys that are due as interest on capital to their nonsuppling shareholders. In Proverbs XIV, 34, we read : Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people " Thus by its own action the JN.Z.DA. stands condemned before the whole community as a bye word and a reproach. The statement by Mr Pacey, Managing Director of the N.Z.D.A., that he will arrange with his directors to give special consideration to soldiers' interests is merely an attempt to draw a red herring across the scent and pandering to curry favour with the public sentiment, but does ; not affect the principle concerned one iota. The soldiers, many of whom are farm era' sons and dairymen, know the position well and want no special consideration at others' expense. They are fighting for their homes and country, and want no sops from the N.Z.D.A.— I am, etc., E. H. JULL Te Rapa, 12th Nov. 1917.
