CLEVEDON.

CLEVEDON SHOW A BRILLIANT EXHIBITION Clevedon's reputation as a district par excellence for the production of first-class live stock was well sustained at the ninth annual show held under the auspices of the Clevedon Agricultural and Pastoral Association on Saturday. Favoured with ideal weather it was the red letter day when patrons far and near assemble and in some way encourage by their loyal support the executive who cater so well for the varying tastes. While entries .were perhaps not so numerous as at previous shows, both Shorthorns and the meek little Jersey, in the cattle section, deserved a larger ring. In the first named breed the first prize cow could we)l compete anywhere and the first prize bull was notably tree to type and a well set animal. Holsteios, which are becoming more in favour, were shown to advantage. In all cattle sections Mr A S. Thompson, the judge—whose opinion is a dependable one—affirmed that all the cattle shown were a credit to the district. Horses, though not a big class, were compensated by the quality of the animals shown. "Nigger," belonging to Mr BD Neale, the winner of the high jump, wa9 an alert, well bred animal, nice tempered and easily a favourite "Viking," in the hunter class, was a well bred animal and true to hunter type. Mr W. G. Bell's "Peggy," as a hack mare, deserved the judge's recognition, while Mr A. Paton's cob "Dandy" (up to 14 2) was a sure winner. Draughts were not a strong class, Mr A. E Harding's "Dacotah,' an entire, being awarded the ribbons In the sheep class Romneys were well represented and in the fat sheep section Mr W. Duder deserved the cup awarded to him for the highest points in that sec* ion. An encouraging new feature of the show was the splendid array of flowers, while the Clevedon School's exhibits in the industrial and other sections served to uphold that school's deputation for good work, especially in writing and drawing. . Fortunate is the Association in having such a courteous and hard working secretary in Mr J. A. Gandy, who together with a devoted band of loyal practical committeemen with so many helpful assistants contributed in no small degree to the success of the show and the continued good name which Clevedon enjoys as a farming and stock reariifg district The prize- winners were as follows:
