"HARD UP "SOCIAL The hard-up social, held at Puiji on Monday, October 29th, in aid of the piano hind, was a great success. The hall was artistically decorated with ferns, flowers and Chinese lanterns and looked very pretty indeed. The (Upper was of the usual good style for which Puni is noted. Excellent music was supplied hy Miss Fitness (piano) and Master G. Fitness 'violin). Miss Bayley and Mr Joe Roberts played the extras. Master Ned Costello gave a recitation, which was much appreciated. Mr E. Lucas carried out the duties of M.C. in a very efficient manner. Much amusement was caused by the fining of those nut in fancy costume and the funds benefited thereby. Mr Parkinson and Mr L. Maxwell tied foi first honours in the waltzing competition and were each awarded a pilz>>. Much credit is dm' to Mesdarjj.es (Hbson, Black, Lucas, Fulton, J). Maloney, Burgess and Geraghty, also to Messrs A. Gi -..-on, J. Black, W. Dazeley, J Halle, and E Lucas for their efforts which helped to make the function such it brilliant Miccess.
