MANUKEWA TOWN BOARD The usual monthly meeting of the Manurewa Town Board was held on Monday the 29thult, thememberspresent being Messrs T. J. Corin (chairman;, G. Coxhead, C. Coxhead, H. V. Burton, C. H. Lupton, F. W. Woods and E. S. Pegler with the clerk (Mr T. W. Bell). VoTE of condolence Before the business of the meeting was proceeded with the following resolution was proposed by Mr Burton, seconded by the Chairman, and carried in silence, the members standing, viz , " That this Council tenders to our Clerk, Mr T. W. Bell, its deepest sympathy in the great loss he has sustained through the death of his respected wife." MASSEY KOAI) The Chairman reported on the progress of the work on this road and stated that cesspits wore rtquired at various parts of the road to form proper outlets for the water. He added that good work was bii lg done hy the Board's employees lllfj, KOAII The Clerk read a letter from the Manukau County Council acceding to the Board's request to have the formation of Hill road by the Coun« oil. RAILWAY RESERVE TRACK Mr Pegler's notice of motion as to acquiring the railway reserve and old railway track was next dealt with.
The Clerk read a letter from the District Engineer stating the conditions on which the Railway Department were prepared to consider the matter and Mr Pegler then expressed a wish that his motion should bo deferred for a month. A considerable amount of discussioD arose as to future action oa the subject. The Chairman moved and Mr C Coxhead seconded, thit provided sufficient funds were t'orthcoiu ing fiom Messrs Lupton, Wo >ds and Wood aud that the Kailway Department was prepared to invest in the Board the railway reserve for the purpose of a public reserve the Board should agree to dedicate that portion of the old railway track within the district south of Weymouth road as a public road. As an amedment Mr Lupton moved and Mr Woods seconded, that the Board should confer with the Manukau County Council in order to devise some scheme for the discussion of the matter.
The amendment on being put to the meeting was lost find the original motion was carried. On the motion of the Chairman it was then agreed that the whole Hoard should be a deputation to the Manukau County Council to discuss the matter. THE JOINT LOAN Correspondence from the Minis'er of Finance on this subject was read and discussed, alter which the following resolution was adopted, viz., •' That the Manukau County Council lie requested to take up the matter of a luan of £2OOO for th-3 purpose of building approaches to a high level bridge at the northern end of the station " MIsOEM.AXF.oUS Plans submitted hy Mt-ssrs Harrison and Grierson for the sub-divis-ion of Mr Stewart' property wire referred back to the sutvcyois for rectification of grade. A letter was received from Mr Wolls re the approach to his property and it was resolved that the approach should lie Idled up with earth. A letter was received from Mr A. Perry complaining about carters using the footpath on I.Upton's load and it was decided to inform Mr Perry that if he gavn particulars as to the offenders the hoard would take proceedings against them. It was arranged that a cesspit should be be built on Linton's road opposite the tile drain. In regard to the carting over Russell road by the Manukau County Council employees it was agreed that a deputation of the whole Board should wait upon the County Council to discuss the matter of control of the road.

Tho Chairman gave notice that at the next mooting of tho Board ho would in jvo that tho resolution providing pitchers for Station road ho rescinded.
The yiiiuiK ladies of tho district havn formed ;i committee to give a return hall to tho bachelors, in the form of a plain, fancy and masquerado dance, on Friday evening Kith of Noveinlior.
