At the Pukekohe Magistrate's Court on Thurday last before Mr E. Rawson, S.M., a young Maori, named Daniel Christopher McDonald, pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence on a charge of having stolen from another Maori, with whom he shared a whare at Tuakau, the sum of £22. Arising out of the police investigations over the thoft a number of charges were heard relative to pakehas supplying Maoris with drink, some of the latter being also charged in aiding and abetting in the offence. Fines ranging from £5 to £lO were imposed, the Magistrate expressing his determination to put down th 6 practice of the natives consuming drink off licensed premises and warning the offenders in regard to the same.
