At half-past seven that evening his Lordship ministered Confirmation at S. Andrew's Church, when twelve candidates received the laying-on-of-hands. The Bishop's address to the candidates was beautiful in its simplicity and was based on the meaning of the Apjstolic rite. At the conclusion of the Confirmation his Lordship proached an eloquent Sermon. The church was crowded to the doors. At the Pukekohe Magistrate's Court on Thursday last Mr C 0 Mahonv, solicitor, drew the attention of Mr E. Rawson, S.M , to the advantage a central Court would provide instead of so many " halfhour " Courts held in various districts. He pointed out that much time was occupied in travelling to the various courts whilst the business in many cases only occupied a few minutes. On Tuesday, November 13th, the public of Pukekohe will have the opportunity of seeing " Sons of the Empire," a series of war pictures taken among the British Army and Navy. These films, secured by the Y. M.C.A. for a tour of New Zealand, will be shown here one night only. The pictures of the artillery at work, of the infantry in attack, and of the tanks and aeroplanes in action, are most instructive. A large portion of the programme is occupied with intimate glimpses of important stages in a British offensive, which is followed from the artillery bombardment to the gathering and searching of the German prisoners. A visit to the fleet gives the spectator an acquaintance with warships renowned the world over, and some of the pictures have a close bearing upon the battle of Jutland. The net proceeds will be used for providing comforts for our fighting men. Seats may be reserved at the Bookery.
