LIEUT. E. B. DAVY Second Lieutenant Edmund Bromley Davy, who died of wounds in France, on October 12th, was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. V. Davy, of "Treen," Buckland. He was educated at the Buckland school and for a time was teaching at Newton East and Driving Creek school, Coromandel. Giving up teaching he became salesman for the Farmers' Auctioneering Company at Hamilton and Te Kuiti. At the time of enlisting he was salesman for Messrs Abraham, Barraud and Williams, at Te Kuiti. He was a keen hockey player and a Waikato rep. He entered camp with the Thirteenth Reinforcements as a N.C.0., gained his commission with the Fifteenth Reinforcements and was drafted toll CompanyN.Z.R.B, Nineteenth Reinforcements. His only brother (Lieut. W. H. Davy) left New Zealand with tho Twentythird Reinforcements, and is at present medical otlicer at the New Z aland General Hospital, Walton onThames, England. PTE. J. C. ROWE Private Jam pi R r we, who has been killed in action, was the second son of Mr James Rowe, of Pukekohe. The deceased soldier, who was only 'JO ye trs of age, was born in Auckland, but spent most of his younger days at Pukekohe and was educated at the Pukekohe Public School. After leaving school he lenrnt the grocery trad-? and at the time of enlistment was so engaged at Takapuna. Deceased left New Zealand with the loth Reinforcements in July of last year and was first wounded in tho knee. After being in England he returned to the firing line when he was subsequently gassed on two rccasions. On again returning to tho firing lino ho was killed in action.
