The New Zealand Loan Company are to bold their usual monthly sale of stock at Tuakau on Thursday nest.

The Public Works statement as presented in Parliament yesterday shows that out of £15,000 voted last vear for the Waiuku branch railway £11,730 was expended. Another £1.3,000 is voted for the current year inclusive of £296 liability on March •"i 1 st last.

Friday and Saturday, November 30th and December Ist, are the dates fixed for the annual show of the Auckland A. and P. Association and entries will close on November 9th. Schedules can be obtained on application to the Association's Secretary P.O. Box 86 Auckland.

The employees of the New Zealand Dairy Association, Pukekohe, played a return game of euchre against the Pukekohe Bowling Club last Tuesday night in the Masonic Hall, when the bowlers again proved victorious, their margin being nine points or three points in excess of their previous win. Twenty-two players composed each team The games were well contested and some very close finishes resulted and great excitement prevailed towards the end owing to the closeness of the scores. At 11.30 p.m. the totals were taken and brought a most enjoyable evening to a close. The forthcoming County Council elections are commencing to create interest. A contest will be forthcoming in the Mercer riding where Mr K. Lyons is not seeking reelection. Mr (}. H. Stubbs, of Mangatangi, lias already announced Lis candidature for the seat, and Mr C. A. Hille, of Mangatawhiri Valley, is also to be nominated. Mr Hille's election address will also be tound in our advertising columns. In the Drury riding it is stated that Mr M Markham, of Arariuiu, is likely to oppose the re-election of Mr J. Flanaguu. For the Waiuku riding, where Mr R. Higginson, the sitting member, is already opposed by Mr C. J. Hodgkinson, Mr R T. Reid, chairman of the Waiuku Towu Board, is also a {robable candidate. That fine upstmding Clydesdale at.illion, " Heather Brae," will be again travelling the Pukekohe and Waiuku districts for the current stud season. Owing to the owner, Mr W. T. Glee so ii, going into camp the horse will be charge of his brother, Mr I) R. Gleeson, to whom correspondence should be addressed at Waipipi. Heather Brae is regarded by experts as almost an ideal sample of the modern Clydesdale and whereever shown he has consistently won championship aud first honouis. His breeding is bv Royal Crown—Dam Jess. Heather Brae will visit Pukekohe every Tuesday and will return to Waipipi on Wednesdays. Further particulars will be found in cur advertising columns.
