RED CROSS SOCIAL
A very enjoyable social was held in Mrs Bull's granary, Karaka, od Wednesday, September 20th, in aid of lied Cross funds. The tirst part of the programme consisted of musical items, competitions, etc., in which the following contiibuted, viz., Mr Wall (cello), Miss Smith (piano\ Mrs Holt (song), Mr Holt (song), Mr and Mrs Holt (duet), Messrs Gibbs and Pilkington (cornet MrGibbs (song), and Miss King 'song). The competitions cons-islcd of gent's hat trimming, won by Mi Beaton (Karaka), and ladies' nail driving, won by Miss R,-ta 11 The winner of guessing Imans m a bottle was Mr Holt an 1 < g weight of cake Mattel Tun Wall, Dancing was indulged in with \I • li.
