Messrs Dalgety and (Jo. are to hold their usual monthly stock sale at Tuakau next Friday. Through the agency of Mr A. A. Civil Mr C. Shipherd has disposed of part of his Puni property comprising f>7l acres. Mr John Beatty, on behalf of Messrs W. and K. Fletcher, Ltd., will purchase pigs at Tuakau next Wednesday. The New Zealand Fanners' Co-op Bacon and Meat Packing Company, Ltd., will he buying pigs at Patumahoe next Monday, at Tuakau on Tuesday, at Pokeuo on Wednesday and at Te Kauwhata on Thursday. The New Zealand L>an and Mercantile Agency Company have secured good entries for their special dairy sale at Pukekohe on Monday next and for their ordinary monthly stock sale on Tuesday.

A reminder is given of the entertainment to be given by the Pukekohe Girl Scouts in the Premier Hall, Pukekohe, next Tuesday evening in aid of the " Our Boys " Trench Comforts Fund. Both the cause at stake and the merits of the programme to be presented wanant a crowded house being secured.

On the ISfh inst., a new postal regulation conies into force regarding the despatch of inland parcels. On payment of an additional fee of 6d the sender of an inland parcel may have il marked " Fragile" and forwarded to destination in a hamper. One of tlin most important clearing sales ever held in Pukekohe is to be conducted on Wednesday next by Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons on behalf of Mr R. F. Wilkinson, whoso son is shortly leaving for the front. The catalogue comprises Mr Wilkinson's well-known dairy herd of 17 Jersey cows and heifers, three Jersey springers, live registered Jersey bulls and four bull calves, together with horses, pigs, farm implements, Bts. The ordinary triennial elections for membership of County Councils are due to be hold on Wednesday, November 14th next. As regards the Franklin County Council it is understood that all of the retiring: members will offer themselves for re-election with tho exception of Mr E. Lyons (Merger Riding), who by reason of his brother having been called up for service has intimated that ho wiil be unable to give the necessary time to County affairs. Mr G. H. Stubbs, of Mangatangi, has agreed to accept nomination for the vacatur*. Mr C. J. Hodgkinson, of Glenbrook has announced his candidature in opposition to Mr R. Higginson, the sitting member for Waiuku riding, and a three-fold contest is not improbable in clie Awhitu riding, nt present represented by Mr J. A. Reuall.

At" Paddy's Market," organised by the Pukekohe branch of the Women's Patriotic League, is to be held in the Premier Hall on Thursday and Friday, November Ist and •2nd. Donations in cash or kind are soli.-ited

The members of the Waikato River Commission, who last week finished taking evidence in Auckl,in,!, visited Mercer on Wednesday and made an inspection of the river in tliat district.
